CARGOLITE ®  CL

The Cargolite® CL packaging for fresh cut flowers is based on an external plastic frame. It is specially designed to be lighter than any other carton used for export, to contain more flowers per volume and to give better protection to the flowers during transit.

The Cargolite® CL concept is currently only available in Kenya.

CARGOLITE CL:

vertical LOAD removed from CARTON WALLS

  • Each Cargolite  CL carton is equipped with two polypropylene frames.

  • Each frame consists of two vertical columns connected to each other with upper and lower laterals.

  • The frames divert the weight of the flowers away from the carton's walls and support each carton separately.

  • The frame is also used to ergonomically hold the carton in a horizontal position.

With the Cargolite system,
the flowers in the bottom boxes do not support the weight of the flowers on top

CARGOLITE CL

  • REDUCEd CARTON WEIGHT

  • increased pack rates

  • less airfreight costs

  • With the weight diverted away from the carton's walls to the plastic frames, it is no longer necessary to use heavy five ply boards. A much lighter 3 ply board is enough.

  • With the frames holding the cartons from collapsing, bulky packaging materials such as SFKs are not required anymore to protect the flowers.

  • As a result , In the space vacated by the voluminous SFK, more flowers can be packed in the Cargolite CL and pack rate grows significantly.

ERGONOMIC HANDLES

Regular boxes are held either by the straps or by the holes on the side of the box.
This can damage the box and the flowers.

WITH CARGOLITE CL, NO STRAPPING IS REQUIRED!

CARGOLITE FRAMES ALSO FUNCTION AS ERGONOMIC HANDLES

The handles always keep the carton in horizontal position. The flowers do not shift or slide inside the carton and arrive in good quality at destination.

Compared to the traditional method of wrapping each bunch with SFK, Cargolite performs better with sleeves only or kraft liner wrapping.

These two pictures taken at arrival in Holland, show that the flowers in the SFK bunch ( bottom) are squashed while the flowers in the Cargolite flower box are still fresh although the pack rate is augmented

built in cooling

The external frames of the Cargolite CL system create a space between the cartons which allows for the circulation of cold air between the boxes.

Cargolite CL cartons are uniformly cooled even at the core of the air pallet.

It is a real 'game changer' for the industry.
The concept enables us to save on air freight costs, less crushing of boxes and therefore an improved quality of the product when arriving at destination."

OPTIMIZED FOR SKIDDING

Cargolite cartons have optimized dimensions for loading on skids and air pallets.
The Cargolite cartons are loaded on the skids at the farm.

Upon arrival at the airport - the skids are scanned as one unit of 15 cartons on a skid rather than box by box.  Then - the skids are placed directly on the air pallet and the "lower deck" is built in only six moves (instead of shuffling 145 standard boxes individually.)

Cargolite cartons increase the quality of the flowers by reducing handling to minimum

stackability
for perfect air pallets

  • Each frame of the Cargolite CL has two projections on the upper lateral and two cavities on the bottom lateral side. The projections of one frame fit into the cavities of the frame above it.

  • As a result, the cartons can be stacked one on top of another and form solid columns of Cargolite.

  • The dimensions of the Cargolite CL optimized for 100x120 skids and they are adapted to fit the dimensions of the air pallets.

  • The stacked cartons form perfect air pallet and remain optimized for all the common air pallets profiles
